2025 National Eucharistic Congress budget at K112 million

The Catholic Pastoral Commission (CPC) says it needs at least K112 million to host its inaugural National Eucharistic Congress, scheduled for August 5 to 9,2025 in Lilongwe.

CPC President Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima made the announcement during a press briefing in Lilongwe on Tuesday.

Chaima outlined the church’s plans to mobilize funds through various activities, including the sale of commemorative cloth for the event.

He also appealed to church members and well-wishers for donations, emphasizing the significance of the event for the church and the country.

Malawi Conference of Catholic Bishops(MCCB )Deputy Secretary General and national pastoral coordinator Father Joseph Sikwese encouraged the faithful to participate in large numbers.

The National Eucharistic Congress is aimed at bringing together clergy, religious men and women, and lay faithful to worship, celebrate, and reflect on the mysteries of the Eucharist.

Its primary objectives include deepening faith in the blessed sacrament and promoting knowledge and love of the Eucharistic worldwide.
