Police in Ntchisi are keeping in custody a 21-year-old Chipiliro Monikisi, on allegations that he wanted to rape his 80-year-old granny, wounding her in the process.
Ntchisi Police Spokesperson Yohane Tasowna, says the incident occurred at Mjingi Village on the 9th of this month in the district .
He says the reports indicate that on the day, the suspect allegedly grabbed the victim, forced her down and covered her mouth but in defense the granny pulled the suspect’s private parts as a way of stopping him from doing the act.
According to Tasowana, this angered the suspect who reacted by assaulting the granny and wounded her in the process.
The victim sustained injuries on her head as well as on the shoulder.
