3 nabbed for vandalizing a cholera treatment centre in Lilongwe

Police in Lilongwe are keeping in custody three people from Mgona area for allegedly vandalizing a cholera treatment centre at Area 25 Health Centre following the death of one of theirs due to cholera.

The three are Tyson John,21, Gastina Banda, 20, and 24-year-old Levinson Handiseni.



It is reported that the community members were accusing the health officials of killing the patient, refuting that the death was due to cholera.

The irate people, blocked roads and were seen pelting stones at the cholera treatment facility.

In reaction to the situation, police officers arrrsted the three and also sprayed teargas to disperse others who were attending the violence.
