On Friday, the visiting President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, and his counterpart, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, toured the Conforz Macadamia nuts and Tea Processing plant in Thyolo.

The purpose of the tour was to provide the two leaders with an understanding of the tea processing business and its value chain.

During the visit, the Presidents explored the company’s offices and factory, where two significant foreign exchange earners, macadamia nuts and tea, undergo processing before being exported from the country.

Addressing hundreds of Malawians at Conforzi Plantations, located just two kilometers away from Thyolo Boma, the leaders emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in improving the lives of their respective citizens.

Following the tour, Mnangagwa praised the existing relationship between the two countries.

Later, in a Facebook post, Chakwera commended Mnangagwa for joining his Operation Tigwirane Manja Campaign.

He wrote, “While continuing with his state visit, Comrade Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa this morning joined Operation Tigwirane Manja, first by inspecting areas in Blantyre that experienced devastation from Cyclone Freddy, and thereafter making a donation to the victims.”
Chakwera explained that the aid package included food, school materials, sanitary supplies, blankets, kitchenware, and cement.

He further expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, stating that it would greatly contribute to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of the affected communities.

“I am pleased that Comrade Mnangagwa has assured us of continued support in our recovery and reconstruction efforts,” he concluded.
