Investigations which this publication has done has revealed that President Dr Lazarus Chakwera since ascending into power has earmarked a project aimed at providing decent houses for chiefs.
This was done after taking into account roles which chiefs provide in the country.
Chiefs play critical role in the implementation of development projects in the country.
Chakwera is constructing 70 houses across the country.
As earlier said, the project is aimed at constructing and rehabilitating chief’s houses and offices in order to provide the chiefs with a secure and decent place to live and work.
The outcome of the project is to Enhance service delivery to the local citizens by the chiefs, improved access to basic services and resources in the village and enhanced decency of local chiefs.
The project started in July 2021 and its life span ends in March 2026.
Our investigations into the project have revealed that maintenance Paramount chief Mbelwa, Gomani and Senior Chief Malemia in Nsanje have been completed.
Despite the project facing two challenges such as inflation and volatile economic conditions authorities believe this project will be completed.
