Chakwera, thousands mourn Chiwere

On Thursday, 20th July, President Lazarus Chakwera led thousands of Malawians in mourning and paying tribute to late Member of Parliament for Dedza Central Constituency, Daniel Hamilton Chiwere as he walked the last mile to his resting place at Kalinyeke in Dedza district.

Delivering his condolence message at Kalinyeke primary school ground during the funeral ceremony, President Chakwera mourned Chiwere as a true servant leader who served the country with diligence and love without looking for rewards, adding that late Chiwere loved peace at all times and to that effect, the President called upon other parliamentarians to borrow a leaf from the life of the departed legislator.



“Let me say it here that Chiwere had a selfless face, a face of a true servant leader who served his constituents, leaving a legacy we must all emulate”. Said President Chakwera.

He further described late Daniel Chiwere as a leader who lived a clean life without rumors for corruption because he always followed the rule of law.

On behalf of Senior Chief Kaphuka and family members, Senior Chief Chaima and Patrick Dzanja respectively described late Chiwere as a pillar in the community and his family.

Speaking on behalf of Speaker of Parliament, (Catherine Gotani Hara), First Deputy Speaker, Madalitso Kazombo said the death of Dedza Central legislator is a great loss to the country’s parliament, saying he was a young parliamentarian who could have assisted in the development of his constituency and the country.

He then described Chiwere as a giver, humble and dedicated leader whose humbleness brought many Parliamentarians together to mourn him, adding that it signified the cordial working relationship and unity among Members of Parliament regardless of parties they represent.

Born on 20th July, 1974, Chiwere passed away on Monday, 17th July, 2023 while serving for his second term as a Parliamentarian for Dedza Central.
