Real Estate Talk Mw in collaboration with Urban Realtors has started conducting real estate physical awareness workshops aimed at addressing some of the challenges faced by real estate industry in the country.
It is expected that such awareness workshops will increase engagement and awareness of property issues among Malawians.
Speaking during the workshops launch in Blantyre on Thursday August 3, 2023, Real Estate Talk Mw Managing Partner Atusaye Kanyenda said he expects that through the workshops which will be conducted together with stakeholders will adress most of the challenges in the real estate industry.
“The main thing is that we are engaging the stakeholders who are investors in real estate so that they learn more things on how they can deal with real estate challenges,”said Kanyenda.
Kanyenda also talked about the importance of understanding land laws both among investors and real estate agencies.
“Through the workshops, we also want to impart knowledge and understanding of the land laws among real estate stakeholders who are investors as well as real estate owners,” he said.
Executive Director of Urban Realtors who was the guest speaker Francis Sebastian talked more on the role of young entrepreneurs to the development of the country.
Sebatian indicated that young entrepreneurs have a very important role to play in the development of the country hence they must think wide and innovative.
“As young entrepreneurs, Malawi is expecting a lot from you. Think wide and think innovative to contribute towards Malawi’s economic growth,” he said.
On his part, Chief Estates Officer for Zomba Council Paul Phiri shared practical insights on how to embrace Urbanisation for Economic Development.
Phiri gave insights on how road traffic are managed in other countries through provision of complementary roads that are only accessible at a fee, saying such developments should be embraced inline with Vision 2063.
He stressed the need to decentralize as a measure to effective management of townships and urban centers.
On his part, Architect Charles Lipenga underscored the significance of Sectional Titles, the value of registering professional real estate agents, and the vast potential for creating value in the market beyond mere plot sales.
Lipenga further emphasized the impact of hardware megastores, such as Build Africa, and advocated for the establishment of REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts) to further elevate the country’s real estate endeavors.
The Blantyre workshop brought together real estate experts, land economists, architects and students who shared their views on awareness workshops.
It is expected that similar physical awareness workshops will soon be held in the cities of Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
