Mighty Mukuru Wanderers were held to a goalless draw by Chitipa United as both teams move second and third in the standings respectively.
Wanderers were looking for maximum points not only to go top on the log table but also to revenge on the Chitipa-based side which managed to beat them at home in the first round.
The visitors had numerous scoring opportunities in the first half but goalkeeper George Chikooka was in inspired form to preserve an impressive clean sheet and win his fifth man of the the match award this season.
Chitipa on the other hand tried their best to give the home fans something to smile about after they were frustrated in Dedza by Dedza Dynamos last weekend, but failed to find the back of the net from the little scoring opportunities they had in the second half.
Following the draw, the Nomads have moved to position 2 with 33 points while Chitipa are now third with the same number of points but the former have a superior goal difference.
Despite not playing today, Nyasa Big Bullets remain top with 34 points while Silver Strikers are fourth with 32 games.
In Blantyre, Innocent Nyasulu became the first goalkeeper this season to save two penalties in a single Super League match as his side Mighty Tigers beat Dedza Dynamos 2-0 at Kamuzu Stadium.
Two first half precious goals from Precious Chipungu and Precious Chiudza were enough to grant Mighty Tigers maximum points.
In Lilongwe, Blue Eagles suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Moyale Barracks with Chifundo Damba scoring the only goal of the match in the 65th minute.
Elsewhere, Chikaiko Batson scored a late goal to help Civil Service United beat Kamuzu Barracks 1-nil at Kasungu Stadium.
On Sunday, Karonga United will host Ekwendeni Hammers at Karonga Stadium as Extreme FC hosts Mafco FC at Nankhaka Stadium.
In another game to be played on Sunday, Silver Strikers have got a chance to go top if they win their match against 10th placed Bangwe All Stars at Kamuzu Stadium.
