By Chisomo Phiri

Eastern Region President for former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Bright Msaka SC says the Tonse Alliance administration has started engaging foreign individuals to rigg 2025 elections so that they elected into power again.

Msaka made the claims on Monday at a press conference that DPP organized at Mount Soche Hotel in the commercial of Blantyre.

He said they are engaging foreign experts to provide old equipment for electoral registration so as to discourage people as they will stand in queues for days.

“They will fail as Malawians are angry and registration will be in masses. They tried to rig ward elections in Mangochi, at that level, we did not know until they were caught. What about the national vote. They are bent on trying to oust the will of the people,”said Msaka.

He continued to say that the Tonse Alliance Government started on a note to, loot from poor Malawians and enrich themselves because that is the only thing they have achieved so far.

He said since they come in power, there is no even a single week that goes without hearing something naughty.

Msaka questioned how can an entire government buy fertilizer from a butcherry, Romanian company that not even exists.

He however, demanded Chakwera to resign as president and let DPP take over the leadership.

“He promised himself that if he will fail to deliver, he will resign himself without forcing him to do so. Now it is that time to resign.

“Being eroquent does not bring results. This government was not ready to run the state of affairs and it does not have the capacity for that. If they knew what to do, inflation wouldn’t have been like this, prices of commodities wouldn’t be like this, we would have had fuel, ” he said.

In his turn, former Reserve Bank of Malawi(RBM) Governor Dalitso Kabambe described the current economy under Tonse Alliance administration as ‘Sick’

Kabambe said, rising in cost of living, high inflation rate, hunger crisis, an increase in poverty rate, depreciation of Malawi Kwacha against major currencies and fuel shortages are among signs that the Malawi economy is sick under the Tonse Alliance administration.

“Ntchito yoti chuma chadziko chikhale bwino, mafuta azipezeka, njala ithe, umphawi uthe komaso kuti katangale athe ndincthito ya anamatatule pankhani ya zachuma ndipo anamatatulewo ndifeyo tili ku DPP,” said Kabambe.

The press conference which was attended by journalists from various media houses was organized under the theme ‘ Enough is Enough, Chakwera Must Fall’
