Chitipa United leapfrog Bullets at the top of the TNM Super League

Chitipa United’s hopes of winning their first ever TNM Super league received a huge boost as they beat Bangwe All Stars 2-nil at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 80th minute with Ghedo Lorenzo’s clinical finish before Godfrey Kwiyokwa scored the other goal for Chitipa in the added time.

Chitipa’s victory saw them climb top on the log table with 39 points after playing 21 games followed by FCB Nyasa Big Bullets who have so far accumulated 37 points but have played few games less than than the northern region side.

In another TNM Super league match played on Wednesday, Mafco FC beat Civil Service United 2-0 at Chitowe Stadium.

Stain Malata scored both goals for Mafco in the 31st and 34th minute to give the home side the much needed victory.

Following the win, the Salima-based soldiers are now two steps out of the relegation zone, level on points with Civil who are perched on position 11 in the standings but the Civil servants have a better goal difference.
