Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu Manda has announced that every player of the Malawi national women’s football team, the Scorchers, will receive MK1 million for winning the HollywoodBets Cosafa Women’s Championship.
Nyamilandu said this at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre during a gala dinner for the team that won the cup after beating Zambia 2-1, in the final that took place at Lucas Moripe Stadium in South Africa.
The money is on top of the MK1 million game bonus ( K200,000.00 per game for five games) and USD 1,500 external bonus.
The team arrived in the country on Monday afternoon through Chileka International airport after winning all their matches in the tournament.
Meanwhile other individuals and companies like Innobuild, have also pledged to reward the team for the remarkable achievement.
