Airtel Top 8: Civil ends Bullets’ unbeaten run-Still the People’s team progress into semifinals on aggregate

Civil Service United has handed Nyasa Big Bullets their first defeat this season at Kamuzu Stadium, beating them 2-1 in an Airtel top 8 match played on Saturday afternoon.

The People’s team were first to score through Maxwell Phodo who connected with a header a corner kick well taken by Precious Phiri just a minute from kick-off.

Lloyd Aaron leveled the scores from the penalty spot 9 minutes later after Collins Okumu fouled Luke Chima in the penalty box.

Chifundo Ngapemba scored the winner for the civil servants with a beautiful header in the 57th minute, beating Bullets goalkeeper Richard Chimbamba.

After the match, Civil Service United midfielder Lloyd Aaron was voted man of the match following his beautiful display during the match.

Despite the win, Civil have failed to progress into the semifinals as the People’s team cruise through with a 3-2 win on aggregate following the People’s teams’ 2-nil victory in the first leg in Lilongwe.

The win means that Bullets have qualified into the Airtel Top 8 semifinals for a third consecutive season.

Bullets will now face Blue Eagles in the semifinals while Mafco FC will take on the winner between Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Silver Strikers.
