Nyamilandu says Mzuzu FIFA academy to develop Malawi’s football

Football Association of Malawi(FAM) President Walter Nyamilandu Manda says he is optimistic that the new Mzuzu FIFA Academy project will help developing football in the country.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lilongwe on Wednesday, Manda, said the project is a dream come true as it has been in the pipeline for ages.

The FAM President added that people in the country have been heavily waiting for the project as everyone believes in the future.

He disclosed that the academy will be operated at high level so that education and good morals for children are maintained.

Manda indicated that this will be first of its kind in the country with all facilities put in place and will be wholly monitored by FAM.

On his part, Gerson Fernandez FIFA Director Member Association in Africa said they have chosen Malawi to be among the three countries due to its vibrant passion for football development.

Fernandez added that Malawi is another better football country a thing which will be realised more through the incoming Mzuzu FIFA Academy.

FIFA selected three countries in Africa for the Academys project.

These are; Mauritania, Djibouti and Malawi.
