Malawi President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera says veteran soldiers have demonstrated commitment in serving the country.
Speaking at the veteran soldiers Golf fundraising ceremony President Chakwera urged Malawians and stakeholders to fully support these veteran soldiers.
“There is no better model of discipline in our entire governance framework than the Malawi Defence Force, and that those who have once served in this institution and gone into retirement deserve our thanks for all the nights they kept watch over us while we slept or put themselves in harms’ way so that we can be free, ” he said.
The president said that the best way to show thanks for their acts of valour is to care for them in the years that follow their distinguished service.
Chakwera said was delighted that through patronage of this tournament, we are all putting our money where it belongs.
” This is no ordinary tournament. It is a token of appreciation to our ex-servicemen and women for choosing the discipline of war in order to achieve our desire for peace, ” he said.
