Unima student ‘Ellan’ finds fame on social media with his musical talent

Up and coming musician ‘Amidu Ellan Monjeza’ who is also a student at University of Malawi (UNIMA) has become popular on social media after his video clip went viral on Monday.

Popular singer, Driemo, shared a video clip on Facebook in which Ellan was captured singing along with his friend Malumbo Ngwira who was playing a guitar.

“Anyone who knows him tell him is a rare gem. Now this is music,” reads Driemo’s Facebook post in part.

The song which was posted, talked about the social-economic challenges that Malawians are currently facing with a message of encouragement at the end of it for people not to loose hope but to trust in God.



After Driemo’s post, many Malawians including top musicians, music promoters and producers went on to share the clip with many describing the artist as a rare talent.

“Brooo I played this more than 10 times. . Malawi has maaad talent 🙌🏽🙌🏽🏆🔥,” commented Amapiano star Zeze Kingston.

Thankx Elia Mwalwanda wrote, “UNIMA to the world. Keep it up Amidu Ellan Monjeza and Malumbo Ngwira.”

Another music fanatic Emmanuel Kathamalo said Ellan’s composition is very mature and brilliant. He said “The message is very powerful, voice so sweat and the guitar so amazing. I love it.”

Meanwhile, renowned music producer Foster Sukani popularly know as ‘Don Foxy’ has offered to record Ellan’s music for free at his studio in Blantyre.
