The Former Vice President of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), who was expelled from the party for allegedly flouting the party’s constitution has finally formed his party called, People’s Development Party (PDP).
As is usually the case with the soft spoken Mulanje Central legislator, he has wasted no time but show off to the nation through his social media handles lots of party colour clothes being printed
The party’s Interim Secretary General, Simeon Phiri announced the coming in of the new party on Friday.
Phiri indicated that Nankhumwa is the party’s President.
He said:” We are thrilled to announce the establishment of People’s Development Party (PDP), a beacon of progress and inclusivity in the political landscape.
“With a steadfast commitment to fostering sustainable development,and empowering communities, the PDP emerges as a vehicle for positive change and collective prosperity.”
Meanwhile, a renowned political analyst, George Phiri has commended Nankhumwa for formulating his party.
“Nankhumwa is one of the great politicians in Malawi and if he can play his cards well, he will surprise many come 2025 when Malawians will go to polls,” says Phiri.
He has however, advised Nankhumwa to focus on ideas to uplift people’s lives.
