In a highly anticipated TNM Super League match, Bangwe All Stars and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers played to a goalless draw at Mpira Stadium on Sunday April 28, 2024.
The most interesting match saw both teams create scoring opportunities but ultimately fail to find the back of the net.
The battle began with both teams displaying a strong defensive mindset, resulting in a cagey first half with few clear-cut chances…
Bangwe All Stars had more possession, but Mighty Wanderers’ defense held firm, and the teams went into the break level at 0-0.
In the second half, Mighty Wanderers began to assert their dominance, creating several scoring opportunities through their pacey wingers.
However, Bangwe All Stars’ Goalkeeper Elias Missi was in top form, making several crucial saves to deny the visitors.
Despite the pressure, Bangwe All Stars refused to back down, and their counter-attacking style almost yielded a goal on several occasions.
However, Mighty Wanderers’ defense was equally resolute, and the match ended in a goalless draw.
In a post match interview, Bangwe All Stars’ interim Coach Mapopa Msukwa praised his team’s defensive solidity.
“We are disappointed not to have taken all three points, but a draw is a fair result,” “We created enough chances to win the game, but their goalkeeper was excellent,” he said.
On the other hand, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers’ head coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan was pleased with his team’s performance, saying:”We came here to get a result, and we did that. We had some good chances, but their goalkeeper made some great saves. We’ll take the point and move on to the next game.”
The draw means that Bangwe All Stars remain in fourth place in the Super League log table, while Mighty Wanderers move up to sixth place.
The result also extends Bangwe All Stars’ unbeaten run at home to seven matches, while Mighty Wanderers have now drawn three of their last six matches across all leagues.
