The funeral of former First Lady Patricia Shanil Muluzi was marred by drama when some UTM women attempted to block former president Joyce Banda from delivering a speech.

The women reportedly booed when Banda was invited to speak by the director of ceremonies.

It wasn’t until former president Bakili Muluzi intervened that the women allowed Banda to take the floor.

Muluzi, who was previously married to Dzimbiri, stressed Banda’s relationship with the late Shanil and urged the women to let her speak.

In her speech, Banda praised the UTM women for their love and support towards the deceased.

She acknowledged the disagreement but also highlighted the years of collaboration they had shared.

“Although you disagreed that I should speak, you didn’t know we have been working together here,” Banda stated.

The tense moment at the funeral highlighted the complexities of relationships in the political arena, as well as the emotional tribulations that come with saying goodbye to a loved one.

The funeral of Patricia Shanil Muluzi was a solemn event, but also a reminder of the intricacies of human connections.
