The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has unveiled all the necessary arrangements for its upcoming major convention, scheduled to take place at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe from August 8th to 10th.
Kezzie Msukwa, chairperson of the convention organizing committee, disclosed that preparations are in full swing to ensure a successful and impactful event. He emphasized that prospective participants interested in contesting for various positions within the party are required to collect nomination forms from MCP district offices starting July 1st.
To facilitate their candidacy, aspirants must adhere to the following financial obligations, which are non-refundable:
1. Party President: MK5 million
2. First Vice President: MK2.5 million
3. Second Vice President: MK2.5 million
4. National Chairperson: MK2 million
5. First Deputy National Chairperson: MK1 million
6. Secretary General: MK2 million
7. First Deputy Secretary General: MK1 million
8. Other executive positions: MK500,000
9. Second Deputy positions: MK250,000
10. Youth and Women aspirants will pay half the nomination fee.
Msukwa urged all potential candidates to adhere strictly to these financial requirements, ensuring their participation in the convention proceedings. He further stressed that these measures are crucial for maintaining the logistical and organizational integrity of the event.
