Vice President Dr. Michael Bizwick Usi this afternoon held closed door discussions with the management of Blantyre City Assembly in Bantyre over various sticky issues ranging from patriotism to town planning.
Opening the meeting, the VP said the discussion was meant to explore ways to instill a sense of national pride and responsibility among the people that run the affairs of the city – recognizing that patriotism is the foundation of the country’s progress.
“We also delved into innovative strategies for town planning, aiming to create sustainable, inclusive, and vibrant communities that reflect our nation’s values and aspirations,” the VP told the media in a door step interview after the meeting.
“I did not come here to admonish anyone but to plead with the city authorities that patriotism is a shared responsibility, town planning is crucial for sustainable development and that collaboration is key to driving progress,” said the Vice President.
Authorities at the assembly said they appreciated the candid talk that they had with the vice president and that the message has sank in.
