Chairperson for the Parliamentary Committee on Social and Community Affairs, Savel Kafwafwa, says the rising number of suicide cases among men in the country should serve as a wake-up call for stakeholders to intensify efforts to address the issue.
He emphasizes that it is crucial for both the government and communities to work together to provide better support and resources for mental health.
Kafwafwa has since appealed for a critical approach to handling mental health issues.
According to Malawi Police statistics from January to June 2024, 246 out of 281 people who took their own lives were men.
