Notable initiatives included the completion of a feasibility study for the construction of the Judicial Complex in Lilongwe and the implementation of Phase II of the National Fibre Optic Backbone. The Chinese envoy also spearheaded efforts to upgrade the M1 Road section in Lilongwe to a dual carriageway, enhancing transportation links within the capital.

Earlier this week, Ambassador Zhou also paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs, Honourable Nancy Tembo, emphasizing China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors. His advocacy for the commencement of the Judicial Complex project, a much-anticipated development for the Malawian judiciary, was highlighted as one of his major achievements.

The departure of Ambassador Zhou comes at a time when China-Malawi relations continue to thrive, bolstered by longstanding cooperation in infrastructure, trade, and cultural exchange. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 2007, China has been a key partner in Malawi’s development, providing grants, technical assistance, and investments aimed at fostering sustainable growth.
