The official Facebook page of Leader of Opposition in Parliament and the senior Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) member George Chaponda has been hacked.
The cyber attack occurred on Thursday just after DPP officials led by the party’s Secretary General Peter Mukhitho addressed members of the press in Lilongwe.
Chaponda revealed to the media that his phone had been stolen and he had already filed a report with the police.
“My phone has been stolen, and I have taken immediate action by reporting the incident to the authorities,” Chaponda stated.
On Tuesday October 8,2024, the DPP official Facebook page was also hacked and up to now, the party has not recovered the page.
Both pages have long served as a key platform for engaging with supporters, promoting events, and sharing crucial information.
