Nsanje – Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Governor for Nsanje District, Steven Kamanga, has strongly criticized the practice of employing “outsiders” for small-scale jobs within the district. Kamanga expressed his concerns during an MCP rally held in Nsanje, which brought together senior party officials and local leaders.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Kamanga emphasized the need for local jobs, especially those that do not require specialized skills, to be given to people from Nsanje. “Small-scale jobs that do not require special skills should be given to local residents of Nsanje,” Kamanga stated, receiving applause from the audience.
Kamanga’s remarks come amid growing frustrations among local communities in the district, who feel sidelined from employment opportunities that arise from development projects and government programs. Many believe that such jobs are often given to individuals from outside the district, leaving locals unemployed.
The rally, organized by the MCP leadership in Nsanje, provided a platform for party officials to engage with the community on a range of issues affecting the district, including job creation, development projects, and access to public services.
Kamanga urged authorities to prioritize the welfare of local people, stressing that empowering them through employment would contribute to the district’s economic growth and stability.
The rally marks part of the MCP’s efforts to strengthen its presence in Nsanje and address concerns that are key to the party’s political agenda as the country approaches the next elections.
