The Women’s League of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Blantyre has extended a helping hand to individuals affected by a recent car accident at Magalasi while they were returning from a maize distribution event at the Kamuzu Stadium. The group delivered various essential items to the victims currently receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital.
Ruth Chipole, the Deputy Chairperson of the DPP Women’s League, stated that many of those affected by the accident, including party supporters, were in urgent need of assistance, prompting the league to take action. Chipole emphasized the importance of solidarity in times of crisis, noting that it is a moral responsibility to support those who are suffering.
A representative from the hospital, who oversees the care of the accident victims, expressed gratitude for the support provided. The representative remarked that the patients face numerous challenges, and the assistance from the DPP Women’s League would significantly alleviate their burden during this difficult time.
The accident victims currently being treated in the hospital’s emergency room number approximately 60, and they received a range of supplies, including food, clothing, and hygiene products. The timely intervention by the DPP Women’s League not only highlights the party’s commitment to community service but also underscores the need for collective support in addressing the needs of those affected by unforeseen tragedies.
