This phase marks a crucial step towards ensuring that all eligible Malawians are able to exercise their democratic right to vote.

Registration centers by region

During this phase, registration centers will be open in several districts across the Northern, Central, and Southern regions, specifically in the following areas:

Northern Region: Nkhata Bay, Rumphi, and Likoma

Central Region: Kasungu and Kasungu Municipality, Dowa, Mchinji, and Ntcheu

Southern Region: Zomba and Zomba City, Blantyre and Blantyre City, Thyolo, and Luchenza Municipality

MEC Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja has emphasized the importance of participation, urging all eligible Malawians to take advantage of this opportunity to register.

A call to action for all eligible voters

In a statement, Justice Mtalimanja encouraged Malawians to make their voices heard:

> “Any Malawian who is 18 years or older, or will turn 18 by polling day, should visit a registration center near their home, workplace, or business. Be sure to bring your evidence of registration with the National Registration Bureau. Your vote is your power – let’s work together to build a stronger democracy.”

Ensuring accessibility and inclusivity

With registration centers now active across several regions, MEC has worked to provide accessible and efficient registration services to avoid congestion and accommodate everyone eligible. In this regard, MEC continues to promote public awareness through community outreach and media platforms to reach all corners of the nation.

What to bring and what to expect

Eligible citizens must bring a valid ID or evidence of registration with the National Registration Bureau, ensuring a smooth and efficient registration process. MEC staff will be on hand at each center to assist with inquiries and confirm each individual’s eligibility.

As voter registration progresses, MEC remains committed to fostering a transparent and inclusive process, strengthening Malawi’s democratic foundations, and encouraging a high voter turnout in 2025.
