Nkhatabay district has been earmarked to have large voter registration numbers thanks to the relentless voter registration drive by Hon Ken Zikhale Ng’oma who is also the Minister of Homeland security.
Since Malawi electoral commission embarked on voter registration exercise, Zikhale has been at the fore front of mobilising people to vote . Known as Nyamazikulu zikulu and the Campaign Field Marshal , Zikhale is one of the best campaigners in the country and his efforts have seen Nkhatabay people eager to go and register to vote.
Zikhale efforts has seen traditional leaders in the district , namely Zilakoma, Malengamzoma and Fukamapiri all coming together to support the efforts of the Minister.
Nkhatabay is one of the district that has seen the popularity of President Lazarus Chakwera increase over the past four years
Speaking to on of the residents in the district , a Mr John Manda , he told this publication that people in the district are looking forward to registering so that they can have the opportunity to vote for President Chakwera to retain power .
