By Burnett Munthali

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the Central Region, Alfred Gangata, today led a high-profile rally in Area 36, Lilongwe, alongside other senior party officials. The event, which drew large crowds of supporters, was seen as a strategic move to solidify the party’s presence in the region ahead of the 2025 general elections.

The rally featured prominent figures within the DPP, including Presidential Advisor Chimwemwe Chipungu and Youth Director Norman Chisale. Their presence underscored the party’s unified front and commitment to regaining political dominance.

In his address, Gangata emphasized the need for DPP supporters to remain steadfast and committed to the party’s vision for Malawi. He highlighted the party’s readiness to address pressing national issues, including the economy, unemployment, and infrastructure development.

Chimwemwe Chipungu urged party members to work together, stressing that unity is essential for the DPP to reclaim power in the upcoming elections. “The DPP has a track record of delivering development, and together, we can bring that progress back to Malawi,” he said.

The rally marks a significant step in the DPP’s strategy to regain its footing in the Central Region, a crucial battleground in Malawi’s political landscape. Party officials expressed confidence in their ability to attract more support through grassroots mobilization and targeted engagement.

As the rally concluded, attendees left energized and optimistic about the DPP’s plans to return to power and address the challenges facing the nation.
