Balaka West DPP MP Bertha Ndebele has been thrown into the limelight after a video of her talking to her constituents has gone viral on social media earning her so much praise from a lot of Malawians.
In the video. Ndebele is heard telling the constituents that her focus is to bring development to the area and for her to do that , she has to be supportive of the government of the day .
Ndebele is blunt with her words , urging her constituents not to waste time castigating President Chakwera but to give the President and his government the support so that the area can benefit from the many development initiatives that the current administration is embarking on.
“Ine ngati phungu wanu koti ndikakupempheleni ndi ku boma -boma pano akulamula ndani? ndiye mukumayankhula mawu otumbwa, ndikakapempha zinthu mukuti ndalowa congress- ndiye ine ndizikapempha kuti?Amene akulamula dziko ndi chakwera, ine ngati MP kokapempha ndi kwa Chakwera ” Ndebele said amidst ululation and hand craps from the constituents.
She said other people have been urging her to speak bad of the president but she isn’t ready to do that because her focus is to bring development to her area.
Ndebele acknowledged that in the last election, people of Balaka West did not vote for President Chakwera, however, she is happy that the President is not being selective in his leadership and is catering for all Malawians including people of her area.
Malawians of goodwill have described the MP’s approach as brave and beyond partisan politics . Political Commentator Lywell Makuluni describe Ndebele as one of those MP’s who are focused on development and not political point scoring
