Some have described him as an attention seeker , others have been blunt to describe him as not the sharpest tool in the box. This sums up the political profile of Sameer Suleman , the DPP legislator for Blantyre City South East who has been arrested today for libel Contrary to section 200 as read with section 34 of the penal Code 7:01 of the Laws of Malawi
Suleman has been on the forefront of headlines for some time now. In the face of an impotent Malawi opposition, he has stood out as the other voice. Sadly his verbal outbursts have largely been misplaced and oftentimes desperately eager to appear that he is tough.
Suleman actions have largely been borderline of disrespect for authority and others. Content from his verbal outbursts have largely been full of propaganda, inuendo and desperate attempt to maintain his new found persona as the tough talking opposition member of parliament. It is no surprise that recently, MCP Director of Youth Baba Malonda has dragged him to court for libel over unfounded remarks that Suleman made during a TV remark claiming that the Malondela and others wanted to kill him.
There are enough grounds to describe Suleman as a dangerous politician and one whose actions doesn’t mean well for Malawi. His lack of respect for authority sets a precedent that some of his followers would follow by disrespecting authority and thereby causing unrest in the country. Suleman lacks discipline and his disciplinary record in parliament says it all.
His baseless and unfounded claims against other politicians also put his fellow politicians in danger of retaliation from the public. This is something that Malawians should not tolerate.
Politicians who are eager to sow seeds of division amongst Malawians should not be tolerated or their actions applauded. Politicians who fail to be good role models to society have no place to Malawi modern democracy
This is why Suleman is a danger to Malawi peace and democracy
