Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Spokesperson Jessie Kabwila and Homeland Security Minister Ezekiel Peter Ching’oma have criticized Democracy Progressive Party (DPP) for promoting political violence.
The two MCP leaders were in Ndirande, Blantyre on Thursday where they assured party followers of their safety.
On Tuesday this week, misguided DPP Cadets assaulted women clad in MCP attire in the township.
This unfortunate incident occurred just weeks after DPP member Victor Musowa encouraged supporters at a rally in Ndirande to deal with MCP supporters and their officials.
In their remarks, the two leaders emphasized that every Malawian has the constitutional right to associate freely.
On this note, the leaders assured the victims that the police are actively searching for those responsible for the violence.
