A devastating lightning strike has claimed the lives of two women and left ten others with severe injuries in Phalombe, Malawi. The incident occurred this afternoon at Nambazo, where the women had gathered for a Village Savings and Loan meeting.
According to Gracious Kulanga, Chairperson for Chiwalo Area Development Committee (ADC), the women were caught off guard by the sudden lightning strike. “It was a tragic accident.The women were gathered for a meeting when the lightning struck them.”Kulanga said
The injured women have been rushed to the hospital for treatment, and their condition is currently unknown. Phalombe Police Spokesperson Jimmy Kapanja has requested more time before commenting on the incident.
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers of lightning strikes during the rainy season. As the investigation into the incident continues, the community is left to mourn the loss of two lives and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured women.
