Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mary’s Meals International, recently met with Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima, Malawi’s Minister of Basic and Secondary Education. The purpose of the meeting was to reinforce their partnership focused on the school feeding program, a crucial initiative aimed at enhancing the nutritional status of primary school students.

Minister Wirima expressed the significant impact that the Mary’s Meals program has on local communities, noting, “This initiative addresses hunger and boosts school attendance and participation. It’s especially vital in rural areas where families often struggle to provide sufficient food.”

Madam Maureen Maguza, Deputy Director of School Health Nutrition HIV and AIDS, also spoke to the importance of the Mary’s Meals program in Malawi. She noted that providing porridge not only alleviates immediate hunger but also fosters improved concentration and academic performance among learners.

The meeting culminated in a shared commitment from both parties to expand the Mary’s Meals program, recognizing its critical role in enhancing educational opportunities for children. Together, they look forward to collaborating on initiatives that ensure sustainable support for this vital cause.
