The United Democratic Front (UDF) has announced that the first phase of its primary elections will take place from March 20 to March 27, 2025.
The elections will be conducted in three districts: Machinga, Mangochi, and Zomba.
UDF spokesperson Dyson Jangia made the announcement this evening

Jangia stated that aspiring candidates who wish to contest in the primaries can now begin their campaigns.
He emphasized that the party expects all candidates to adhere to the rules and regulations governing the primary elections.
Jangia warned that any leader found violating election guidelines will face disciplinary action.
He further stated that any party leader caught engaging in misconduct during the primaries will be suspended from their position.
UDF has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the primaries are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
The party has urged all members and aspirants to uphold unity and discipline throughout the electoral process.
As preparations for the primaries intensify, all eyes will be on the UDF to see how the process unfolds in these key districts.
