Mighty Wanderes and Nyasa Big Bullets had to rely on penalties to edge out their round of 32 opponents in the inaugural FDH Cup.
Wanderes beat Karonga United 5-4 on postmatch penalties at Mzuzu Stadium following their 1-all draw in regulation time.
The Lali Lubani boys scored all their penalties through Alfred Manyozo Jnr, Stanley Sanudi, Vincent Nyangulu, Babatunde Adepoju and Francis Mulimbika.
Josaya Duwa missed the only kick for Karonga United while Anthony Mfune, Khumbo Msowoya and Adeleke Kolowale converting their penalties.
On the other hand Bullets secured a had-fought 5-4 victory against their reserve side Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The match ended 1-1 in regulation time following goals from Luke Chima for Bullets and Kesten Simbi for Bullets Reserve.
Yamikani Mologeni missed the last penalty to give The People’s Team a chance to cruise through to the round of 16.
There were also wins for Moyale Baracks and Blue Eagles FC who also cruised into the round of 16 after beating TN Stars and Ekwendeni United respectively.
