Donnex Muva to Represent MCP in Mzimba East by-election

The youthful renown gospel musician, Donnex Muva Daniel has emerged the victor in a tightly contested Malawi Congress Party primary elections for Mzimba East Constituency.

Unofficial results in our possession shows that Muva who is a son to Reverend Steven Muva of the Malawi Assemblies of God and a Gospel musician got 167 votes in a rerun to claim victory over the only female contestant in the race Dr. Mary Shawa who got 107 votes.

In the first round of the elections, Muva got 85 votes to go level with Shawa while the runner up was Reuben Ngwenya with 84 votes, with the rest shared between Harold Jonasi Oven Myaba and Stonard Chisamba Salamba.

The election in Mzimba East is coming following the death of its legislator Wezzie Gondwe and is among constituencies and a ward in which Malawi Electoral Commission is scheduled to conduct by-elections on 26th October this year.
