Silver Strikers won the inaugural FDH Cup by overcoming Ekwendeni Hammers’ bold challenge in an entertaining final that took place at Bingu National Stadium(BNS) in Lilongwe.

The Central Bankers scored a goal in each half to win their first cup since 2019 when they won the Airtel Top 8 Cup for the second time.

Silver took the lead 39 minutes in the first half through Frank Banda and scored their second in the 50th minute through former TN Stars striker Stain Davie.

Going into the final, the Bankers faced tougher opponents having knocked Moyale Barracks and Blantyre giants Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers.

Ekwendeni on the hand met TNM super league relegated side Ntopwa FC and regional sides Airborne Rangers and Wanderers Reserve.

This is not the first time for the Central Bankers to win an inaugural cup at BNS as they won the Airtel Top 8 Cup in it’s inaugural year at the facility.

Having finished as the champions, Silver Strikers have walked home with K25 million while Ekwendeni Hammers have received K8 million.

Mighty Wanderers’ striker Vincent Nyanguru has finished as Top Goal Scorer with 4 goals and received K200,000.
