Nyasa Big Bullets ended their TNM super league season in an impressive fashion, coming from behind to beat Karonga United 3-2 at Kamuzu Stadium and acclaimed as champions for the fifteenth time.
Karonga United started the game on a high and could have been 1-nil up in the 14th minute but Bullets defender Miracle Gabeya made brilliant clearance to deny Clement Nyondo a goal.
Karonga kept knocking on Bullets’ door and they were rewarded in the 21st minute as Josiah Duwa’s strike from a freekick outside the penalty box, went straight into the net to give the visitors the lead.
Seven minutes later, Mphatso Kamanga doubled the visitors’ lead following a communication breakdown between Gabeya and goalkeeper Rabson Chiyenda.
The People’s team made a triple substitution in the 38 minutes bringing in Henry Kabichi, Ernest Petro and Lanjesi Nkhoma
for Nelson Kangunje, Misheck Selemani and Dalitso Sailesi.
This however did not help anything until in the 53rd minute when Hassan Kajoke scored his 14th goal of the season to keep the Ndirande outfit back in the game.
Lanjesi Nkhoma leveled the scores 5 minutes later and Kajoke came back with the winner at 90th minute.
Bullets captain Chimwemwe Idana who received player of the month award for the month of August, was voted man of the match in Saturday’s game.
The win means Bullets have finished the season with 62 points and wins the country’s top flight with Zimbabwean coach Kalisto Pasuwa for the third time in a row.
