The Magistrate Court in Lilongwe has today rejected the request by the State to have witnesses in Prophet Shepherd Bushiri case testify in South Africa.
Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwanza has since given the State and defense lawyers 14 days each to make a fresh application on how the witnesses should give their testimony and based on that make its decision.
The Court further said the DPP does not have the powers to make the application under the law. The powers are with the court to make the application and not the parties.
The matter has since been adjourned to 5 August to hear the fresh applications from both sides.
