Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and MAFCO Football Clubs risk receiving heft punishments from the Football Association of Malawi following alleged misconducts during the Airtel top 8 quarterfinal match which took place on 6th November at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Communication from FAM disciplinary committee says Mighty Mukuru Wanderers supporters poured liquid substances on MAFCO players in the tunnel when they were going to the dressing room at half time.

The Nomads supporters are also said to have harassed a MAFCO kit master by confiscating papers from him at half time.

The other offence for Mighty Mukuru Wanderers is that the team failed to control its supporters from engaging in improper conduct as per Count 1 above and their actions brought the game of football, FAM and name of the sponsor into disrepute.

Meanwhile, the committee says for MAFCO, forward Richard Mbulu harassed match officials soon after the match by threatening to kill them and daring them never to come to Chitowe Stadium.

He later led a group of MAFCO players that blocked the match officials designated exit gate forcing the match officials to use another gate.

The second offence is that MAFCO FC failed to control their players from engaging in improper conduct as per Count 1 above and their actions brought the game of football, FAM and name of the sponsor into disrepute.

According to the charge sheets signed by Alfred Gunda Secretary General for FAM, the two team’s secretariats are required to provide their stand of charges within 48 hours.
