Minister of Health Khumbize Chiponda has called for concerted efforts in the fight against Cholera as the situation worsens with the country registering 262 total Cholera deaths.
Chiponda has also appealed to people to stay at home during the festive season, saying going to the Lake would only worsen the situation as Lakeshore districts have been heavily affected.
“Now rains have started so the situation can get easily out of hand if we are not careful, so those who like going to the lake to have fun during this Christmas and New Year period, this time please stay at home so that we control the situation,” said Chiponda.
She has also appealed to the ministry of local government to consider postponing cultural events to avoid the spread of Cholera.
So far, Malawi has registered over 8,000 cases of cholera and 262 people have died.
