Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has pledged that he will donate his March salary to survivors of the mudslide caused by Tropical Cyclone Freddy in Chilobwe, Blantyre.
Zikhale Ng’oma who once lived in Zingwangwa donated the money to the survivors through group village head Chilobwe during a brief presentation ceremony held at Naotcha Primary School where scores of survivors have encamped.
The minister said he decided to donate the salary as a sign of appreciation to the traditional leader and the community for their efforts in rescuing survivors and burying those who died in the disaster.
Zikhale Ng’oma also donated K200 000 to grave diggers who prepared 28 graves in a space of three days.
He also made a K100 000 donation to group village head Chilobwe for his personal use.
