President Chakwera arrives in Blantyre ahead of official duties in the South

President Lazarus Chakwera has arrived in the commercial city of Blantyre via Chileka Airport in the morning of Monday, 15th May, 2023 ahead of his official duties in the Southern Region.

Upon his arrival at Chileka, President Chakwera who is accompanied by the First Lady, Madame Monica Chakwera was welcomed by government officials as well as party officials from all Tonse Alliance partners.



From the sources, while in Blantyre, the President will among other duties preside over the official commissioning of the new Malawi Bureau of Standards Complex on Tuesday, 16th May before officially opening the 33rd Malawi International Trade Fair at Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds on Wednesday, 17th May, 2033.

The International Trade Fair provides an opportunity for Malawi’s businesses to showcase their products and services on top of expanding their network with other entities from within Africa and across the globe.

The two events of commissioning the new MBS complex and the opening of the MITF give Malawi various opportunities in trade and investment, and the new MBS complex is expected to improve standards of the country’s products and services to make them attractive within regional markets and Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA)
