In its quest to make its customers have access to fast internet services, Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) plc has this evening announced the introduction of fifth generation (5G) internet service.

The company becomes the first mobile network operator in the country to launch the fast internet platform.

According to the company’s Chief Executive Officer Michel Hebert, the 5G network seeks to deliver the fastest and highest quality mobile internet speeds.

“We bring you an incredible internet tonight and in future.

“This is the best technology to make you smile. It’s here and it’s working.

“We have invested significantly to bring to Malawi this wonderful experience for our customers,” he said.

This is not much a strange development as the company is also the one, came first in the country to provide mobile phone services and upgrade to 4G (fourth generation) internet technology.

In telecommunications, 5G is the fifth-generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in 2019, and is the planned successor to the 4G networks which provide connectivity to most current cellphones.
