Activist tells Atupele Muluzi people did not give up on UDF

By Vincent Gunde

Human Rights Advocator Charles Ben Longwe, has told UDF President Atupele Muluzi that Malawians did not give up on the UDF advising him to come out and join Malawians in a quest to liberate their country from the shackles of MCP dictatorship.

Ben Longwe said Malawians are all aware that the UDF fought hard to champion democracy in the country to the declaration in 1994 that never and ever shall Malawi go back to one party state and dictatorship through Dr. Bakili Muluzi.

Atupele Muluzi

He said it is sad that Dr. Bakili Muluzi and Atupele Muluzi still breathing Oxygen outside, they are witnessing the hard-won democracy going to the grave without them standing up to defend the democracy the party championed in 1994.

Speaking through an audio clip from his home in Nkhatabay, Ben Longwe said he did not come to speak seeking financial resources from government or opposition parties but joining Malawians with a strong call to “WAKE-UP!!! Malawi is sinking into the grave.

Ben Longwe has advised Atupele Muluzi that he is not alone in the country and behind him there are many Malawians with trust that in him there is leadership the country is lacking and coming out once in a month as what he did in Salima addressing whistle-stops rallies, is not enough.

He has appealed to the youths in the UDF to wake-up and have courage to defend the country’s hard-won democracy warning them that if they keep on sitting down and watching President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera continue destroying the country, they will wake up one day only to see that their country is sold to the highest bidders.

The Advocator has accused MCP Publicity Secretary Dr. Jessie Kabwila of warning leaders of other opposition parties who have court bail in their pockets that as the country is going towards elections in September, 2025 they should expect arrests.

He said what Dr. Kabwila said should not come from her being a cabinet Minister observing that those words were supposed to be said party by a District Governor reminding Dr. Kabwila that Kamuzu Banda tried to rule the country for life but he is smelling dust in the grave, assuring her that change is coming.

“We did not vote for God but a leader and we did not vote for Chakwera to be God for us to fear him, Malawi is our country and no one from outside will come to liberate the country,” said Ben Longwe.

He said President Chakwera after knowing that he has failed to fulfill campaign promises, he wore Area 30 Police uniform and start arresting people particularly those from opposition parties including following up on whatsAPP messages threatening and intimidating people.

Ben Longwe said if Chakwera wore a suit of promises as was in 2018, 2019 and 2020 by today, he would not have any competitor and all Malawians could have joined him singing “Boma ndilomweli silikuchoka” but because he is a leader with no vision, he will perish on 16th September, 2025 Presidential Elections.
