Alex Major appointed PPPC board member

Public Private Partnership Commission (PPPC) has announced the appointment of former Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Kasungu West, Alex Major as its board member m effective September 25, 2024.

According to the offer letter dated October 3, 2024,signed by Comptroller of Statutory Corporations, Peter Simbani, Major has until October 25, 2024, to accept the appointment.

The letter reads in part: “As a board member, you are entrusted with the responsibility of providing strategic guidance to the Commission based on your unique expertise and experience to ensure that PPPC achieves its mandate.”

Major recently contested for the position of secretary general of MCP at the party convention but was unsuccessful.

The PPPC was established as the Privatisation Commission under the Public Enterprises (Privatization) Act of 1996.

It started operation in April 1996 with its Head Office in Blantyre.

It was established to implement divestiture of direct or indirect state interests in State Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

Its mission is to facilitate access to affordable and efficient public services through transparent procurement of innovative and dynamic private sector partners in viable infrastructure development for the benefit of the people of Malawi.
