Atoti Manje of ‘Bazuka’ fame has expressed concern over the obsession of some local musicians with foreign languages in their songs.

Writing on his Facebook page, the ‘Ndizipepeseseko’ hit maker says he has observed that nowadays many artists are not sounding like Malawians in their songs.

“Malawi music needs to be assessed. It is very sad to note that great Malawian Musicians do not sound like Malawians. There is need for mindset change. Singing local sounds does not mean being backward,” reads part of his post in vernacular.

It adds”Until when shall we continue to sing foreign sounds…. When are we going to have our own music identity as a country ?.”

Atoti feels, most musicians in the country are not being appreciative of their local talents that define their culture.

The musician has also lashed out at event organizers for being obsessed with international artists who when they jet into the country, their touch of music is almost similar to some local artists.
