On Saturday, August 17, the Dorcus Ladies from Bethel SDA Church embarked on a mission to spread the word of God and share their talents with the congregation at Chitambalare SDA Church in Lunzu.
The visit was a heartwarming display of faith, music, and community spirit.
However, it also shed light on the dire need for a decent place of worship for the Chitambalare church members.
As the Dorcus Ladies took to the stage, their voices echoed through the makeshift structure, filling the air with uplifting songs and verse recitations.
Their talents were a testament to the gifts bestowed upon them by God, and their passion was palpable.
The audience was captivated, and the atmosphere was electric.
But amidst the joy and praise, a stark reality became apparent.
The Chitambalare SDA Church, situated in a remote area of Lunzu, is in a deplorable state.
The lack of a proper building means that congregants are forced to gather under a rudimentary structure, which offers little protection from the elements.
During rainfall, the church remains empty, as members are unable to attend services due to the absence of a roof.
Dali Chole, a member of the Bethel Dorcus women, highlighted the church’s pressing needs.
“We appeal to well-wishers to help us with iron sheets and bricks.
The current state of the church is unacceptable, and we cannot continue to worship in such conditions.”
The Dorcus Ladies’ visit served as a catalyst, bringing attention to the plight of the Chitambalare SDA Church.
Their appeal resonated deeply, and it is now up to the community to respond.
The construction of a proper church building would not only provide a safe and dignified space for worship but also serve as a beacon of hope for the congregation.
As the Dorcus Ladies departed, they left behind a sense of purpose and a renewed commitment to supporting their fellow believers.
Their selfless act of kindness and generosity will have a lasting impact on the Chitambalare SDA Church, and their legacy will continue to inspire others to make a difference.
In a world filled with challenges and uncertainties, the Dorcus Ladies’ visit stands as a testament to the transformative power of faith, compassion, and community.
As we reflect on their story, may we be reminded of the importance of supporting one another and working towards a common goal – to create a better world for all.
