Bishop Martin Anwel Mtumbuka of Karonga Diocese has advised people in the diocese not to vote for people using acts of violence as a tool to gain political mileage and popularity.
Bishop Mtumbuka said this at Ngerenge Primary School ground in Karonga district, after a K4 Million kwacha Bishop’s Peace Trophy football match final which the diocese launched on April 17,2024 with an aim of spreading messages of importance of peace and avoidance of acts of violence towards positive development.
Mtumbuka spoke tough on politicians who use people to incite violence for them to gain political dominance, saying such politicians should not be voted for, because they only bring division and wrangles in communities rather than developmental activities that Malawians deserve since this is their own country and they have nowhere to run to.
On his part, Senior Traditional Authority, Kilupula thanked Bishop Mtumbuka and Karonga Diocese for the trophy saying that it has significantly helped to bring peaceful resolutions in his area.
The K4 Million 2024 Bishop’s Peace Trophy final match ended in favor of Chicago Football Club beating Mlamba Football Club by a goal to nil.
