Blue Eagles FC are back at the top of the TNM Super League following their emphatic 4-1 win over Red Lions at Balaka Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Oswald Maonga drew first blood for Eagles 39 minutes in the first half but Red Lions equalised through Royal Bokosi early in the second half.
Lions celebrations did not last long as Schumacher Kuwali scored with a power strike before Gaddie Chirwa came with the third and fourth goal for Eagles.
The win means the Area 30 side have now opened a three-point gap at the top of the league with 16 points above defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets who have accumulated 13 points but the people’s team have a game in hand.
In another match played on Wednesday, Mafco FC got their first win of the season after thumping TN Stars 5-1 at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa.
The win has taken the Salima-based soldiers out of the relegation zone as they are now on 12th position with five points after playing six games.
